Apoorva Patel is a counsel at Alston & Bird and is based in New York. He has a decade of experience in international arbitration, including high-stakes commercial and investment treaty disputes involving the construction and engineering sector as well as worldwide court proceedings concerning the enforcement or challenge of arbitration agreements and arbitral awards. Apoorva is a graduate of Harvard Law School and a frequent author and speaker on topics of international arbitration law and practice. He also has served in leadership roles in several global and national organizations focused on cross-border dispute resolution.

Nawfal Merzouk has 9 years of experience in the construction industry in providing professional consultancy and invaluable support to testifying experts within the realm of dispute resolution. With a specialization in construction-related matters, his expertise lies in expert analysis and witness support, preparing comprehensive analysis and expert reports related to issues such as delays, quantum, and labor & equipment productivity. Mr. Merzouk’s expert services have been proficiently offered in three languages: English, French, and Spanish.

Mollie Deyong is an Associate in the Construction and Infrastructure Practice Group at Singleton Urquhart Reynolds Vogel LLP. Mollie has a steadfast interest in infrastructure projects and has specialized in construction and infrastructure since the outset of her legal career. Mollie is experienced in drafting and negotiating standard form and bespoke contracts of varying degrees of complexity, including design-build contracts, construction (design-bid-build) contracts, construction management contracts, supply contracts, and professional services contracts. She is a construction industry lawyer with experience in large-scale infrastructure disputes, negotiation, mediation, multi-party litigation, arbitration, procurement matters and resolving legal issues that arise on construction projects in both Ontario and British Columbia, and practices extensively in both jurisdictions. She has experience working with large infrastructure owners, mid-size project owners and developers, contractors, suppliers, consultants and design professionals. On the side, Mollie likes to ski, hike with her dog, try to play piano and attempt amateur landscaping at her home in Halfmoon Bay on the coast of British Columbia.

Ms. Panwar brings extensive experience to the civil engineering & construction industry, specializing in project management, construction claims analysis, and CPM scheduling. She provides analysis and preparation of delay, disruption, inefficiency claims, and disputes, reviews damages, and performs project cost analysis. Ms. Panwar also assists with deposition preparation, negotiations, mediation, arbitration, and litigation. Her project experience includes government facilities, commercial developments, hotels, educational facilities, heavy civil, oil & gas refineries, and industrial projects.

Majed is a construction professional with experience in the delay and quantum analyses of construction projects. He has provided dispute and advisory services on numerous contentious residential; energy; transportation infrastructure; and institutional green and brown field projects. His projects have been spread across Canada, Quebec, Europe, and the Middle East.

The construction and law industry has piqued my curiosity ever since I was little. I loved being in the dirt and learning about what my dad was doing when I was younger and always had that thought in my head to commit to the industry. With my love of working with my hands, I started reaching out for opportunities during high school to get hands on experience. I ended up getting employed and quickly learning the ins and outs of the industry. No matter what task was at hand I completed it to the best of my ability and enjoyed every second of my work so far, whether that be a slow boring day or a very fast paced stressful day. I’m well versed with the ins and outs of both shop, mainly inventory and management ideas, and heavy equipment yards, materials and heavy machinery. I’m currently furthering my education at Kent State University and look forward to challenging myself further and getting more on the job experience in the near future.
